NAFSA Report Highlights IFSA-Butler Teaching Programs

A new report from NAFSA includes a mention of IFSA-Butler's teacher education options abroad. IFSA-Butler offers three special teacher education programs abroad: Flinders University Teacher Education
in Adelaide, Australia; Stranmillis University College Teacher Education in Belfast, Northern Ireland; and Universidad Nacional (UNA) Teacher Education Concentration in Heredia, Costa Rica.

Trinity College Dublin Places High in World Rankings

Trinity College Dublin has ranked high in recent assessment of universities worldwide. It ranked 48th among universities around the world in terms of scientific research and accomplishments in a survey published by the University of Leiden in the Netherlands. Most recently, Trinity placed 61st worldwide by the QS World University Rankings 2013.

First Generation Program Added to Forum Standards Toolbox

IFSA-Butler's First Generation Scholars program has been added to the Forum on Education Abroad's standards toolbox. The toolbox showcases innovations in study abroad and best practices in the field of international education.

The Forum on Education Abroad is a professional organization devoted to the field of study abroad. It was founded in 2003 and has members throughout the U.S. and around the world.

The First Generation Scholars program was created in 2012 and is designed to provide scholarships and additional support for first generation college students who are studying abroad.

 
Teach Abroad with IFSA-Butler

IFSA-Butler offers programs that are ideal for education majors and future teachers. The programs below include practical classroom interactions, supervision by education faculty and a variety of course options.

Stranmillis University College Teacher Education
Belfast, Northern Ireland
Stranmillis is a highly acclaimed teacher education college that attracts students from throughout the U.K. and around the world. Student teaching placements are available, as are other hands-on classroom interactions. Education options include elementary, secondary, early childhood and health and leisure education. A small selection of non-education courses are also available.

Stranmillis University College Student Teaching Internships
Belfast, Northern Ireland
This option at Stranmillis focuses exclusively on student teaching experiences. Placements available in Belfast-area preschools and elementary, middle and high schools. A series of lectures, workshops, seminars, activities and visits to local schools complement the student teaching placement.

Universidad Nacional (UNA) Teacher Education Concentration
Heredia, Costa Rica
Participants combine education courses at UNA and hands-on classroom interactions with a unique cultural experience in Costa Rica. This program is ideal for future Spanish or ESL teachers, or for any education major who wants to be prepared for the increasingly diverse U.S. classroom. An optional non-credit workshop preparing students for the ACTFL test is also part of the program.
