December 9, 2014

The Alliance for Global Education Becomes a Division of IFSA-Butler The College of Global Studies at Arcadia University and the Institute for Study Abroad, Butler University (IFSA-Butler) today announced jointly that they have signed an agreement in which the Alliance for Global Education, Washington, DC, will become entirely a division of IFSA-Butler.

Founded in 2006, as an innovative and enterprising collaboration, The Alliance for Global Education, LLC, has hitherto been a partnership of two not-for-profit entities, the College of Global Studies at Arcadia University and the Institute for Study Abroad, Butler University. The Alliance was formed with the vision of opening study abroad destinations in Asia to an ever-growing and more diverse U.S. undergraduate population. The Alliance's program office and staff will continue to be located in Washington, DC and the Alliance programs in China and India will remain unchanged.   The College of Global Studies at Arcadia University and IFSA-Butler will be working together to ensure a smooth transition over the next few months. Once the transition is complete, all support services for the Alliance will be provided by IFSA-Butler's Indianapolis office and the Institute's field representatives across the nation.

Lorna Stern, Vice-President of Arcadia University and Executive Director of the College of Global Studies commented, “Over the last seven years, The College of Global Studies at Arcadia University and IFSA-Butler have together, through their Alliance, built successful programs that have provided students with unprecedented opportunities to study in China and India. As the founding partners each begin to move in new directions, we are proud of the legacy we have built and wish the Alliance every success for the future.”

Mark Scheid, President and CEO of IFSA-Butler, stated, "We at IFSA are very pleased to have brought the Alliance's outstanding programs and sites fully into the IFSA family. We are excited by this opportunity to extend IFSA's global reach with these academically excellent programs."

IFSA-Butler is one of the nation’s largest study abroad programs, with participants from approximately 400 colleges and universities throughout the U.S. and Canada. Each year, more than 2,500 students study abroad for a semester, year or summer on IFSA-Butler programs in Asia, Australia, Europe, New Zealand, Latin America and the Middle East. IFSA-Butler is affiliated with Butler University, but is not a division of the university.
