Senior Vice President Joanna Holvey Bowles co-wrote NAFSA's official crisis response to the February 27 earthquake in Chile. Read the report. The response has been a critical resource for study abroad professionals who are seeking further information about conditions in the country, especially as they relate to the safety of study abroad students in Chile.
 
Peru Resident Director Invited to Give Lecture Print E-mail
Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú's Institute for Philosophical Studies has invited IFSA-Butler's Peru Resident Director Laura Balbuena to be part of a well respected lecture series. The series, titled "In a Different Voice: Women and Philosophy," will be held at the Peruvian-British Cultural Center on March 22. Laura's lecture will be "With a Different Sight: Re-thinking the Philosophical Canon from a Gender Perspective."

IFSA-Butler Instructor’s Research Gains Worldwide Acclaim Print E-mail

An archaeologist who works closely with IFSA-Butler students in Mexico is gaining worldwide attention for his research and discoveries in the Yucatán. Professor Giullermo de Anda (pictured with students at left) has been featured in National Geographic and numerous Mexican media outlets following his discovery of Mayan temples and pyramids in the in the village of Tahtzibichen. Among the items found were a 1,900-year-old vessel and earthenware and sculptures dated to A.D. 750 to 850.
