Chile Resident Director Elected APICH President

IFSA-Butler's resident director in Santiago, Isabel Yevenes, was elected president of Asociación de Programas Internacionales en Chile (APICH). APICH members include the most important U.S. study abroad programs in Santiago, and they work together to solve common issues related to Chilean higher education and government.

Peru Resident Director Laura Balbuena Wins Grant
IFSA-Butler's Peru Resident Director Laura Balbeuna has received a grant to attend the International Peace Research Association (IPRA) conference in Sydney, Australia. Laura will attend the conference as general secretary of the Latin American Council for Peace Research (CLAIP) and will present a paper entitled "Maternal Mortality and the Respect for Indigenous Traditions: Addressing Reproductive Health Rights in Peru" at IPRA's Human Rights commission. Congratulations Laura!
Peruvian Professor Wins Prestigious Award

Rossana (Rocca) Diaz, professor of Advanced Academic Spanish and Peruvian Culture for our Peru program, has won a prestigious national award for her movie project.

Rocca won the award from Peru's National Council for Movies (CONACINE) for the production of her first movie "Viaje a Tombuctu." Another Peruvian film, "Milk of Sorrow," which was nominated for an Oscar in 2010, won this award when it was a project in 2008.

Clara Kriger Presents at Cambridge
Clara Kriger, our academic coordinator in Buenos Aires, will be presenting a seminar at Cambridge University's Centre of Latin American Studies. Her seminar will focus on a book she published about Argentine Film and Peronism.
Staff Give Presentations at AACRAO

Two IFSA-Butler staff presented at the recent American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO) annual conference in New Orleans.

Vice President for University Relations Steve Seaworth was co-presenter of two conference sessions: "Emerging Issues in International Education" and "Experiential Education Worthy of Credit." Field Director Opal Leeman Bartzis was co-presenter of "Study Abroad 101 for Registrars" and presenter of
"Cheating or Sharing? Academic Ethics Across Cultures."
