|IFSA-Butler Announces New President and CEO|

The Board of Trustees of the Institute for Study Abroad is pleased to announce that it has named Dr. Mark Scheid the president and CEO of IFSA-Butler.
Dr. Scheid has extensive experience in leadership in the field of education abroad. He joins IFSA-Butler from the Tan Tao University Project in Vietnam, where he has served as president and CEO since 2008. He is also a Fulbright Senior Specialist in higher education structure and administration, acting as consultant to a number of U.S. and international universities.
Dr. Scheid is a founding board member of the Forum on Education Abroad and an inaugural member of the Partnership Council of the School for International Training and the advisory board to the Alliance for Global Education.He has served on the National Advisory Board for Arcadia University and on the Executive Committee of the board of trustees for IFSA-Butler.
His career at Rice University began as a professor of English, followed by multiple roles in higher education administration, including positions as executive director of international programs and scholarships, and assistant to the president. In July 2008, he concluded a two-year appointment as managing director for programs and international studies at Rice's Baker Institute of Public Policy, a period which saw the Baker Institute being named among the "Top 30" think tanks in America.
Dr. Scheid has experience in making presentations at national and international conferences, most recently in 2008 in Washington, Tokyo and Kyoto on the internationalization of science-technology education. In December 2009, he presented "The University Library of the 21st Century" at the Annual Sponsors' Symposium of the Council on Library and Information Resources in Washington, DC.
