What the AUP has to offer
• Program located in one of the world’s most exciting and cosmopolitan cities
• Students can cross enroll in up to four prestigious Buenos Aires universities:Universidad Católica Argentina, Universidad de Buenos Aires, Universidad del Salvador or Universidad Torcuato Di Tella
• Amazing academic flexibility through seven academic concentrations
• Allclasses taught in Spanish by Argentine university professors
• Integrated university classes with local degree-seeking students
• Service learning opportunities available for university credit through academic concentrations
• Extensive volunteer opportunities with local NGOs and social service organizations

Housing
• Housing is with a carefully selected host family in Buenos Aires
• Program fee includes two meals per day Sunday through Friday and one meal on Saturday
• Only one IFSA-Butler student lives with a host family for maximum cultural immersion and language acquisition

Academics
• All students take Advanced Spanish and Argentine Culture, designed exclusively for IFSA-Butler participants
• General academic program offers three additional program courses: State and Society in Contemporary Argentina, Argentine Foreign Policy, and Latin American and Argentine Literature
• Program courses are worth 3 U.S. semester credit hours
• University course credit varies, but students earn at least 15 to 16 U.S. semester credit hours per semester
• Academic advisors meet with students at least three times during the semester to help with course selection, language and academic questions

Academic Concentrations
• Six optional academic concentrations available, allowing students to specialize in their major area of study or interest
• On-site concentration coordinator and academic advisors assist students with course selections, academic questions and guidance
• Fieldwork experiences available for credit through specialized assignments
• Invaluable access to leading organizations, experts in the field of study, and academic resources and archives of research

Directed Research Concentration:
• Allows students to complete a 6-credit research project under the guidance of the IFSA-Butler directed research coordinator and field expert committee
• Topic of research is determined by the student
• Past students have used research as a starting point for undergraduate honors thesis, graduate research and Fulbright scholarships
• Combination of university classes, specialized program course and research project
• Program courses and academic meetings are housed at the Fundación Simon Rodriguez 


Cinema Concentration:
In-depth study of the booming Argentine film industry and its cultural impact in Argentina and beyond
• Combination of university and specialized program courses focusing on film practice and analysis, cinematography, visual communication and graphic design
• Students enroll in one or two classses at the renowned Fundacion Universidad del Cine, located in San Telmo
• Rotating film production workshops and filming exercises lead to the creation of a short film at the end of the semester

Literature Concentration:
• 
Explore Argentina's rich literary tradition by focusing on creative writing, journalism, literary translation and publishing
• Specialized program courses on literary methodology and contemporary literature offered in combination with university courses
• Choose between fieldwork experience at Argentine magazines and independent publishing houses or literary workshops with local Argentine authors (for credit)
• Program courses and academic meetings house at Universidad Torcuato Di Tella

Theatre Concentration:
Hands-on fieldwork experience (for credit) working with a student-run theater company at the Universidad del Salvador
• Assist in all aspects of theatrical production, including casting, rehearsals, illumination, costuming, direction, scene construction and more
• Conbination of specialized program courses focusing on theater in Buenos Aires and research methodology, along with select university courses at Universidad del Salvador
• Offered during semester 2 (fall) only

Diversity, Minority and Gender Studies Concentration:
Comprehensive study on diversity, minority and gender issues through an historical and analytical lens
• Specially designed program course offered in conjunction with university courses}
• Fieldwork experience (for credit) opportunity with local organizations dedicated to the field, such as Comunidad Homosexual Argentina, Fundación Mujeres Contra la Corrupción, Equipo Latinoamericano de Género y Justicia and more
• Program courses and academic meetings held at the Fundación Simon Rodriguez

Human Rights Concentration:
Combination of university courses and specialized program couses focused on Latin American and Argentine human rights issues
• Fieldwork experience for credit with local civil society institutions dedicated to human rights work, such as Madres de la Plaza de Mayo, Memoria Abierta, Fundación Poder Ciudadano and more
• Concentration coursework and academic meetings are held at the Fundación Simon Rodriguez
