Previous excursions included, but were not limited to:
Arrival and orientation
- Airport pick-up for group flight travelers (no group flight available for Latin American Business and Culture Studies program)
- 10-day on-site orientation: Includes transportation, accommodation, activities and most meals
- Welcome meal
- Introduction to Chilean culture
- Discussion of academic differences and expectations
- IFSA-Butler staff walk students through everything from how to succeed academically to living with a host family to integrating socially in a university setting
- Transportation to host family
Day trips
- Sewell and El Teniente Copper Mine
- Isla Negra and Valparaíso
- Sightseeing tour of Santiago
Excursions
- 3-day trip to La Serena (spring semester)
- 4-day trip to Golfo de Arauco (fall semester): Includes a visit to the towns of Cañete and Contulmo, boat trip on the Lago Lanalhue and a visit to a local Mapuche community

- 4-day trip to La Serena
- Additional event at student's expense: Optional five-day trip to Easter Island. Includes transportation, some meals, lodging and sightsseeing tours. Cost: US$1,100 (subject to change). The trip will be offered only in conjunction with the Rapa Nui course and if there is enough interest in the trip.
