Arrival and orientation

Airport pick-up for group flight travelers (when a group flight is available)
10-day on-site orientation: includes transportation, accommodation, activities and most meals

Introduction to Chilean culture
Discussion of academic differences and expectations
IFSA-Butler staff lead sessions on academics, living with a host family, integrating into the host university and more
Transportation to host family

Day trips

Excursions

Three-day trip to La Serena, a northern coastal city: includes a visit to an astronomical observatory and the beach, boating in Coquimbo and a tour of the Valle del Elqui, a neighboring port city (semester 1)
Four-day trip to Golfo de Arauco, historical Mapuche territory: includes a visit to a Mapuche community, a tour of the undersea carbon mines and a boat trip on a sacred lake (semester 2)
