Study Abroad Program at Universidad Diego PortalesAbout Universidad Diego Portales in Santiago, ChileUniversidad Diego Portales (UDP) is one of the top private universities in Chile. Founded in 1982 as a result of educational reforms, it is a pluralistic university that values diverse opinions among its professors and students.
Located in the university neighborhood (barrio universitario) in downtown Santiago, it is home to around 12,000 undergraduate students. Sociology, psychology, literature, design, education, political science and law are some of the outstanding areas of study at UDP. The UDP has many interesting centers and organizations, including an UNESCO Chair on Comparative Policies in Higher Education and a Center for Human Rights.
American Corner Sponsored by the U.S. Embassy, this is a resource center where students can meet to read U.S. publications, such as books, newspapers and magazines. The center also sponsors events for the university community, such as speakers, workshops and academic activities. It is a meeting place for friendly cultural exchange, and offers an excellent place for international exchange students to become involved in UDP. Academics In addition to your university course work, you must take the Advanced Spanish program course. An optional program course, Chilean History, and an optional research project are also available. All coursework is in Spanish.
