Congratulations to the following IFSA-Butler students who have made great academic and personal achievements during and after their study abroad experiences! ArgentinaHannah AremCornell University Argentine Universities Program Hannah conducted an independent study in Buenos Aires of workers who took collective control of the means of production in bankrupt factories. Laura Johnson University of Denver Universidad Nacional de Cuyo Laura received a Fulbright Scholarship and is a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in Korea. Rebecca Plevin Northwestern University Argentine Universities Program Rebecca's article about youth AIDS awareness in Argentina was published in the spring 2006 edition of Abroad View magazine. Aditi Rao Soka University of America Argentine Universities Program Aditi's final paper in one of her Universidad de Buenos Aires classes will be published, and she was invited to participate in a book fair in Buenos Aires in May. The paper was on anti-semitism in Argentina. Tim Ryan University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Argentine Universities Program Tim completed an internship with Las Madres de Plaza de Mayo and his name appears inside the front cover of the book ¡Presentes! ¡Ahora y Siempre! He is thanked by the author for his contributions. AustraliaDebra BatemanSaint Joseph’s University University of Queensland Debra received the Dean of Students' Commendation for High Achievement while studying at the University of Queensland. Matthew Bloom Wake Forest University University of Queensland Matthew received the Dean of Students' Commendation for High Achievement while studying at the University of Queensland. Natalia Gonzales Williams College University of Queensland Natalia received the Dean of Students' Commendation for High Achievement while studying at the University of Queensland. Jessica Hart Vanderbilt University University of Queensland Jessica received the Dean of Students' Commendation for High Achievement while studying at the University of Queensland. Kari Oki Scripps College University of Queensland Kari received the Dean of Students' Commendation for High Achievement while studying at the University of Queensland. Emily Rockwell Gettysburg College University of Queensland Emily received the Dean of Students' Commendation for High Achievement while studying at the University of Queensland. Brittney Silvestri Boston College University of Sydney Brittney received the G.S. Caird Scholarship from the University of Sydney for semester 2 2007. This scholarship is given for students who have achieved academic excellence. Rachel Sinaiko Vanderbilt University University of Queensland Rachel received the Dean of Students' Commendation for High Achievement while studying at the University of Queensland. Caitlyn Vaughn Saint Joseph’s University University of Queensland Caitlyn received the Dean of Students' Commendation for High Achievement while studying at the University of Queensland. Evan Zimring Vanderbilt University University of Queensland Evan received the Dean of Students' Commendation for High Achievement while studying at the University of Queensland. ChileKam SripadaBrown University Chilean Universities Program, Valparaíso Kam won first place in a photo contest organized by the Department of Tourism Development of the Municipality of Valparaíso. Her picture is titled "Flores en el Invierno" (Flowers in the Winter). Todd Martinez University of Denver Chilean Universities Program, Valparaíso Todd earned a Fulbright Scholarship to Uruguay. Jennifer Moore Sarah Lawrence College University College Cork Jennifer received a Certificate in Irish Studies in the following subjects: archaeology, Celtic civilization, folklore and ethnology, history, and Irish language and literature. Nicholas Stanton Saint Michael's College University College Cork Nicholas received a Certificate in Political Issues in Ireland Today. Heather Craig Wesleyan University Glasgow School of Art Heather was the recipient of the Forum on Education Abroad's Undergraduate Research Awards Competition, which showcases the most rigorous and signficant undergraduate research during education abroad programs. Heather presented her research at the Forum's conference in 2005, and an article about Heather was published in the spring 2006 edition of Abroad View magazine. |
