Semester 2: Used in Southern Hemisphere countries and some Northern Hemisphere countries in Latin America, indicating a semester that begins in July (or sometimes August) and ends in November or December.

Calendar year: Used in Southern Hemisphere countries, indicating full-year study that begins in February and ends in November or December.

Academic year: Used in Southern Hemisphere countries and some Northern Hemisphere countries in Latin America, indicating full-year study that begins in July (or sometimes August) and ends the following June or July. Academic year programs include the three-month summer vacation between December and February when classes are not in session.

Fall semester/spring semester/full year: Terms used by universities in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland. These dates are similar to U.S. academic calendars, although fall classes usually start in September or October and spring classes usually end in June.
