Argentine Universities Program and Buenos Aires Intermediate

Previous excursions included, but were not limited to:

Arrival and orientation

  • Airport pick-up for group flight travelers
  • Ten-day, on-site orientation for semester/year students includes: transportation, accommodation, activities and most meals
  • Introduction to Argentine culture
  • Discussion of academic differences and expectations
  • IFSA-Butler staff walk students through everything from how to succeed academically to living with a host family to integrating socially in the university setting
  • Welcome meal

  • Tour of Teatro Colón (operal maintenance class)
  • Visit to Museo Eva Perón (Eva Perón, mito y representaciones maintenance class)
  • Visit to national Congreso and CGT (research concentration)
  • Art exhibition at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (human rights concentration)
  • Trip to Rosario for the Latin American Cinema Festival (cinema concentration)

Other activities

  • Special occasion and special interest meals throughout the year
  • Thanksgiving celebration (semester 2)
  • Farewell meal

Universidad Nacional de Cuyo

  • Annual wine harvest festival (semester 1)
  • Halloween festivities (semester 2)

Excursions

  • Two-day trip to Buenos Aires includes sightseeing and social events
  • Two-day trip to San Rafael includes rafting, horseback riding, trekking and hiking in the mountains

Additional events available at students’ expense

  • Volunteer activity trip to Lavalle ($A100–150)
  • Nightlife in Mendoza ($A20 approximately)
  • Art in Mendoza ($A5–10)
  • History of Mendoza ($A2)
