Peru Orientation and Excursions |

Previous excursions included, but were not limited to:
Arrival and orientation
- Airport pick-up for group flight travelers
- Ten-day on-site orientation for semester/year students: Includes transportation, accommodation, activities and most meals
- Students will stay in a hotel on the first day in Peru and stay with their host families for the remainder of orientation
- Introduction to Peruvian culture
- Discussion of academic differences and expectations
- IFSA-Butler staff walk students through everything from how to succeed academically to living with a host family to integrating socially in the host university
- Welcome meal
Excursions
- Trip to breathtaking Machu Picchu, starting first in colonial Cusco and also exploring the ruins of Ollantaytambo
- Trip to Caral, an ancient city dating back to 3000 B.C. that was discovered in 1994 and is still being excavated today
- Trip to beautiful Pachácamac, which are pre-Incan ruins located about an hour south of Lima overlooking the Pacific Ocean
Events
- Salsa and Latino dance lessons every Monday
- Surfing lessons (semester 1)
- Swimming with sea lions (semester 1)
