|Programs Overview for Students: College Study Abroad Programs, IFSA-Butler|
The Institute for Study Abroad, Butler University (IFSA-Butler) provides study abroad opportunities, plus academic and personal support services, for American and Canadian college students who want to earn credit for international study.
With IFSA-Butler, you can apply to study abroad for a semester, year or summer at any one of more than 90 universities in 15 countries. A Butler University transcript, issued to each student after their experience abroad, outlines the full list of courses, grades and U.S. transfer credits from the period of study abroad.
This transcript allows you to incorporate your study abroad experience into a bachelor’s degree program at your home university. Any student studying for a bachelor’s degree at an accredited, four-year U.S. or Canadian college or university may apply to our programs.
Our philosophy of integrated study abroad means that you will fully enroll in your chosen university abroad and, in most cases, you will live in housing owned and operated by the university abroad. Thus, IFSA-Butler provides you with the unique opportunity to fully immerse yourself into the academics and culture of your host country.
In addition to processing the paperwork, payments and preparations to study at a host university, IFSA-Butler is organized to support you from the time you apply to study abroad until after your return. Staff in our office in Indianapolis and around the world are committed to providing support and preparing you for the academic and cultural changes that await you.
IFSA-Butler operates study abroad programs in Argentina, Australia, Chile, China, Costa Rica, England, India, Israel, Mexico, New Zealand, Northern Ireland, Peru, the Republic of Ireland, Scotland, Spain and Wales.
