Student Life
Just outside of Melbourne lies Monash University, the largest and most international of all the Australian universities. Home to 49,000 students, Monash is known for its international focus, ground-breaking research, and academic excellence. Monash has six campuses in and around Melbourne, campuses in Malaysia and South Africa, and study centers in London and Italy.
As an IFSA-Butler student, you'll study on the main campus of Clayton, where academic buildings harmonize with playing fields and a nature reserve. The Clayton campus is self-contained, but like all of the Monash campuses, it is accessible by public transportation. Clayton offers its nearly 22,000 students a strong cosmopolitan flavor, beautiful open lawns, and a wide range of student programs and societies.
Housing
IFSA-Butler students live in
Monash housing with Aussie students. The housing is in residence halls, each with its own amenities, including small kitchens, laundry facilities, recreation rooms, music rooms, a library, study rooms, and computer facilities. Students have the flexibility to eat at the dining hall on a pay-as-you-go basis or to cook their own meals in the kitchens located on each floor of the residence hall. The residence halls are within walking distance of campus, and you'll stroll through the nature reserve on your way to class.
Courses
Monash offers a huge number and variety of courses, but the university is particularly well known for its engineering and technology programs, including computer science. Particularly popular with study abroad students is the Contemporary Australia course, which includes an optional field trip and an excursion to Canberra, the Australian capital.
