Arrival and orientation
- 2- to 4-day on-site orientation for semester/year students: Includes transportation, accommodation, activities and most meals
- Introduction to Irish culture
- Discussion of academic differences and expectations
- IFSA-Butler staff walk students through everything from how to succeed academically to integrating socially in the host university
- Welcome meal
- Transportation to host university accommodation at conclusion of orientation
Excursions
- Adventure Weekend at Killary Harbour in rural Connemara: Activities include bungee-jumping, water skiing, clay-pigeon shooting, laser combat, tubing, hill walking, high-rope challenges and kayaking. In the evenings, there are group activities and a barbeque.
- 4-day Northern Ireland weekend for Republic of Ireland students: Includes tour of Belfast, day tour of Derry city/Carrick-A-Rede Rope Bridge, Dunluce Castle, Antrim coastline and Giants Causeway
- 3-day Dublin weekend for Northern Ireland students: Includes theatre performance, city tour and time to explore Dublin
Other activities
- Group dinners with IFSA-Butler staff in host cities
