Countdown to New Zealand

Hey everyone,

It’s February 1st, in 10 more days I will be on a plane headed for New Zealand and my life will change. New college, new friends, new country, and more. It’s almost here.

Soo much to do, so little time, and I’m nervous as ever. All this change about to happen, I’ve been looking at my suitcases wondering if I have too much or too little, what needs to go, and what doesn’t. Hoping I will have enough money while I am over there.

It’s beginning to be time for me to say goodbye to my family; I guess its no different then when I have left California for Alaska. But at those times I was still in the United States, not going to another country.

Two years ago when I started planning my study abroad trip to New Zealand I never thought it would come down to being this close and never did I think it would make me this nervous. Time to think back. WHY NEW ZEALAND?

So why New Zealand, well of course the number one reason is because its where the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit were filmed. Actually the real reason was that I looked for the best places to study geology in the world(that spoke English) and between the U.K., Australia, and New Zealand; the answer was easy. What place is more geologically diverse then New Zealand. Then the seller point for which University is that I wanted to go as far south as possible and Otago would have been a great choice, but the University of Canterbury offered courses on Antarctica; now who could pass those up. There are more details from which I chose but I don’t feel like boring you to death on them.

There you have it that’s why I am going to new Zealand, its the next best place for geology. Now lets begin the countdown to New Zealand.

10 days.

oh and happy supper bowl everyone. GO SEAHAWKS.

It has been some time since you arrived… are you going native? Anything going on there that we might consider interesting? 😉

    Alan,

New Zealand was amazing, wish i could have stayed and lived there. What is interesting that is happening are the multiple earthquakes hitting the islands at the moment. Other then that, NZ’s geology is being quiet. From what i did, skydiving, and bungy jumping was fun.
