More Than Packing

Getting ready for a trip normally consists of putting clothes in a bag, printing boarding passes, and making sure your passport is somewhere handy. While this is all essential for preparing to study abroad, there is there is a mental component as well. You have to be ready to say goodbye to your favorite home town spots, your loved ones, and be ready to take on a whole new culture. The days leading up to take-of normally include loads of goodbyes and mixed emotions as the sadness of leaving home is overcome by the excitement of the journey ahead. My last couple weeks at home were spent with my friends and family soaking in the the Maryland sun before heading off to winter in Wellington, New Zealand.
