The Hidden Riches of Galway
Galway: a quaint city on the west coast of Ireland. This harbor city is home of shops, traditional Irish music and pubs, National University of Ireland, and Ed Sheeran’s new song Galway Girl! But what Wikipedia can’t tell you about Galway are the hidden riches and the beautiful secrets — the reasons why I love every minute of my semester here.
The Spanish Arch Area lit up at night. The magical lights are displayed year-round throughout the classy, seafood-inspired restaurants that line the streets.
The red bridge I cross on my daily walk to University. Is it sturdy enough? Been fine so far!
The QUAD at National University of Ireland. A nice study spot outside when the weather is nice, too!
Down a side street off of Shop Street. Can't resist a walk through town in between classes on a sunny day!
The skies of Ireland. Sometimes they're blue, sometimes they have a little white cloud, most of the time you see some grey, and almost every day you get a little bit of everything!
The rolling fields where horses graze on the walk to University. Always a happy day when you run into a horse friend!
Terryland Castle, on the side of the highway walk. A historic landmark that is just ruins now.
The Cathedral of Our Lady Assumed into Heaven and St. Nicolas, Galway. Very close to University and even bigger inside than it looks!
This is my favorite house on my walk to University every morning. I love the farm feel it gives off, with the ivory and the green grass, nothing says Ireland more than this.
Crossing the river on a beautiful evening with an even more beautiful sunset. These are the moments I never want to forget with the people I know I will never forget.
Eyre Square! The famous meeting place in Galway, always full of life and people, no matter the time. Surrounded by food, shops, pubs: all the Irish essentials.
One of the horses that tends to be friendly (but once he tried to eat my hair!).
The brunch at Dela is unbelievable. What a hidden gem in Galway. I can't wait until I can bring my parents here when they visit!
Lynch's Castle! This used to be a castle in the middle of Galway on Shop Street, but now it has been repurposed as AIB Bank, but the castle sign still stands!
Smokey's Cafe in the Arts Concourse at NUIG! This is my favorite place to study while grabbing a bite to eat. It's always full of exciting people, good stories, and even better coffee :)
The Spanish Arch! Through this you can sneak a peek of the bay and then the Spanish Arch area full of shops and food.
