Language Requirements
Language Requirements Explained
To enroll in our Spanish-taught classes at certain programs, you must have a specific language level. Please see below for more details about the language requirements. If you have questions about whether you qualify, contact your Program Advisor.
For Programs with 4 semester requirement:
- 4 semesters means you have taken or are currently taking at least Intermediate Spanish II or the equivalent at your home university.
- If your college Spanish placement test placed you past Intermediate Spanish II, you could still be eligible. Contact the Program Advisor for more information.
For Programs with a 5 semester requirement:
- 5 semesters means you have taken Intermediate Spanish II and have taken or are currently enrolled in one course at an advanced Spanish level (ex: literature, culture, film, linguistics, history, etc.) at your home university.
- If your college Spanish placement test placed you at an Advanced Level, you could still be eligible. Contact your Program Advisor for more information.
For Native Speakers
- As a native speaker, you can qualify for our programs regardless of the language requirement. You will take an online language placement test as a part of your application.
