IFSA is monitoring events in Israel after violence broke out in the Gaza Strip over the weekend. At least 16 Palestinian protesters were killed by Israeli forces on March 30 during one of the largest Israel-Gaza border protests in recent years.  These protests are isolated within the Gaza Strip, and are not currently affecting day-to-day life in Jerusalem.

IFSA students are strictly prohibited from traveling to the Gaza Strip, and no students are near the area. IFSA will continue to monitor the situation and will provide updates as necessary and appropriate.

IFSA staff in Israel spend considerable time talking about safety and security with students during the mandatory program orientation and throughout the semester. Students are given an emergency phone number for our resident staff and our emergency assistance provider, both available 24/7 in the event of a true emergency. Students are also instructed to submit any travel plans to our resident staff should they leave their program city overnight.
