IFSA is monitoring severe winter weather in the U.K.

The most severely affected areas are the eastern coast of Ireland and the central belt of Scotland between Edinburgh and Glasgow. Additional information on the weather system and warning levels can be found at the following resources:

Our U.K. and Ireland resident staff have advised students to follow any guidance from their accommodation, universities or local authorities, as well as encouraged them to reconsider weekend travel. Students have also been notified that although our resident offices may be closed due to weather on Thursday, March 1, staff are available via email, emergency phone or social media for any assistance. Students will be informed of any updates to closures or delay to their respective universities. At this time, temporary university closings include the following:

  • University of Edinburgh (closed until Friday, March 2)
  • University of Glasgow (closed until Friday, March 2)
  • University of Stirling (closed until Friday, March 2)
  • Maynooth University (closed until Monday, March 5)
  • University College Cork (closed until Monday, March 5)
  • University College Dublin (closed until Monday, March 5)
  • University of Limerick (closed until Monday, March 5)
  • Trinity College Dublin (closed until 10:00 a.m., Sunday, March 4)
