The IFSA Difference

Your success is our success! Whatever your goals, our approach is carefully designed to help you achieve them.
You will experience challenging, rewarding coursework in the highest quality classes, while receiving the academic support you need.
More than a tourist in a foreign country, you will engage in the community, build competencies, and develop yourself as a citizen of the world.
Our programs and practices reflect the value we place on diverse perspectives and are designed to support a variety of learners.
Round out your classroom experience with hands-on opportunities like internships, directed research, student teaching, community-based learning or volunteering, and cultural excursions.
You will have academic and personal mentors to assist with program choice, application, travel, cultural acclimation, language acquisition, class registration, academic issues, health and safety, and everything in between.

Academics at University of Stirling International Summer School

The program is structured into two four-week blocks. Students may take up to two classes each block. Explore the University of Stirling online course catalog for up-to-date course options. In the second four-week block, students may opt to participate in a full-time internship for 3 U.S. semester credit hours in lieu of taking courses.
Experiential Learning
Internships with a local employer are available for 3 Butler University semester credit hours in the areas of:
  • sports
  • environment
  • politics
  • marketing
  • not-for-profit organizations
Students who are placed in internships will need to obtain a Tier 4 visa, which costs approximately $455. IFSA will assist students with this process. Please note that the deadline for applying for an internship is March 15, earlier than the regular summer program application deadline of April 1.
After you return to the U.S., IFSA will send a Butler University transcript to your home university and to your permanent address. The transcript reflects the courses taken, credits attempted, and grades earned during your term abroad. This service is included in your study abroad program at no additional cost
