One island, two countries

Green hills, gregarious people, and different ways to look at the world.

First-rate schools, friendly people, and easy access to the rest of Europe are just three reasons to make Ireland your study abroad destination.

Here, IFSA’s partnerships with nine universities provide you with all kinds of options. Get to know lively Dublin as you complete a research project at highly ranked UCD. Advance toward a career in teaching in Belfast. Study art on the west coast in rural Ballyvaughan.

Whatever your destination, IFSA will help you get to know both countries. It’s a rare opportunity to compare two points of view in a single experience abroad.

Did You Know?

  • Galway and the surrounding area are an important Gaeltacht — a district where the Irish language is commonly spoken — and deep-rooted traditions are alive and well.
  • Craic (“crack”) is a term for the latest gossip or news. It’s also a friendly greeting, as in “What’s the craic?”
  • Author C.S. Lewis was born in Belfast, where locals called him Jack. The city’s tribute to the creator of Narnia includes seven statues (one is Aslan, of course).
  • The Irish love sport, from rugby, football, and horseracing to Gaelic football and hurling.
